New Member, New Album, New Times

Bloglessness is a condition that strikes from time to time. It is a condition that I support. This is to be a short blog post, with some basic information. Firstly, Frank, my twin brother, is now a full time member of the band. Secondly, we are recording a long overdue album with many of the songs we have been performing live for the past year or so. Lastly, I am throwing house concerts/art studio concerts in Brattleboro. If you are a band, come play. If you are a person, come listen. Email me at woodendinosaurmusic@gmail.com and I will hook it up.

[Song Names First] Year of the Beards

I'm not supposed to pick favorites, but I'm going to. This one is a beautiful collaboration between Jay Dunphy and Craig Barowsky. Jay writes, "Year of the Beards is in regards to 2008, and is up for interpretation... perhaps it's a tired Williamsburg barber's lament, could be a political comment on the previous administrations final stretch, maybe just an over all summary of musicians in last years music scene, so on and and so on." Sounds good to me, bearded friends...

350 Musicians

Some friends and I are working on a new project, called 350 Musicians. It's an action plan for 350.org and we're trying to find 350 musicians to compose and record music to raise awareness for global warming and the climate crisis. To find out more details, scoot your browser over to 350musicians.wordpress.com or send us an email at 350musicians@gmail.com. We still need, well, many many more musicians to contribute, so be sure to tell all your friends about it.

We have many shows coming up - check the myspace for show dates and times - I'm especially excited about a few of these: the 24 hour music marathon in Keene, a Twin Vixen Press anniversary party, and possibly a shared bill up in Burlington with one of my musical heroes, Bruce Molsky.

In the most recent New Yorker, there is a great article about David Foster Wallace, one of my all time favorite writers, who recently passed away. His masterpiece, Infinite Jest, damn near got me through the high school years.

[Song Names First] Gypped Jazz

Here's one from Brady Sasson, heir to the Vidal Sasson shampoo empire (his stage name is spelled Sansone).
RIP tonic.

[Song Names First] Sedona Snow

This one comes from Jake Porway, all the way out in Los Angeles. He's sent me a few tasty ear candies over the year and this one is no different. Apparently the words "Sedona Snow" are somewhat arbitrary. Jake made the recording with a guitar hero microphone !(?) So copy and paste the link below to listen online - I guess there's no download for this one... Now hopefully Jake can get back to that doctoral dissertation...

[Song Names First] New Mexican Moonchaser

This piece, by Brady Sansone (Heavy Winged, Lonely Ghost, Magdyn Osh, Parlor Wit, and Def Leppard), is a little bit of warm summer evening to counteract the cold. It's all red sunsets, humid air, sand between your toes, and sunburn on your face. I'm gonna climb inside this one for a couple of hours to rejuvenate.

[Song Names First] Elastic Band (Lover)

This melancholy pop hit comes straight from the deepest chrome canyons of the loudest manhattan. Jay Dunphy (of Parlor Wit and Jason's One Too Many) writes "my first tune title was inspired by a freak accident at work that involved several unnecessary boxes of rubber bands." Jay toils in the chrome canyons so that we can enjoy this wonderful music. Let us say praise, and let us hope there is more on the way.
